Men’s Football Team to receive Rs 500,000 for each SAG gold medallists

The government has announced a cash prize of Rs 500,000 for each gold medal winners in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG).

At a function organised to honour the winning Nepali players at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Minister for Youth and Sports Satya Narayan Mandal announced the cash prizes.

“I had already announced Rs 200,000 for the gold medallist. But after consulting with Prime Minister, we decided to increase the cash rewards to Rs 500,000,” the minister told the Post.

Nepal won three gold medals including football, Judo and Wushu.

Though Nepali players fared well in the Sag considering the preparation, Minister Mandal said Nepal has shown the potentiality to perform better. “We have our own problems,” said Minister Mandal, who stayed in Guwahati, India throughout the SAG. “We need to improve our infrastructure and preparation,” he added.
