Since then, the Nepal Cricket Team has made rapid strides in the development and promotion of cricket, with the help of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the National Sports Council, and the Asian Cricket Council. Nepal has established regional and district tournaments, school and college competitions, and national leagues to nurture and showcase the talent of its players. Nepal has also built several cricket grounds and facilities across the country, with the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur being the main venue for international matches.

Nepal’s cricket team has participated in various ICC events, such as the ICC Trophy, the World Cricket League, the Intercontinental Cup, the World Cup Qualifier, and the T20 World Cup Qualifier. Nepal beat UAE and Malaysia in the semi-finals and final respectively, and only lost to Oman in a super over in the group stage. Nepal will now play in the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2024, where they will face the likes of India, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan in the first round.

Nepal’s bowling is spearheaded by the spin wizard Sandeep Lamichhane, who is also the first Nepali player to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Big Bash League (BBL), and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Nepal’s bowling attack also includes the pace duo of Karan KC and Sompal Kami, and the spin trio of Lalit Rajbanshi, Mousom Dhakal, and Pratis GC.
