Back in 2000, when internet was firstly introduced in Nepal by Mercantile Communication, Nepalnews was the only news portal where you could find news and happening of Nepal. Nepalnews was introduced in 2000 by Mercantile, was the first news portal of Nepal.
Today, Mercantile issued a public notice announcing the closure of the 15-year-old news portal. “We hereby announce suspension of news upload to the portal www.nepalnews.com with immediate effect. Direct streaming of partner contents (TV, FM, weeklies) will continue. Archived contents will also be available”, said Sanjib Raj Bhandari, Chairman of Mercantile Communication in the statement.
Mercantile even disclosure the reason of shutting down the 15-year-old news portal in the statment. They stated that due to management’s rush and unfair decision they were forced to shut it down.
Nepalnews announces with heavy heart that due to management’s rash, unfair decision, Nepal’s oldest news portal has been ‘closed down’.
