Nepal’s first international photography festival – PHOTO KATHMANDU – will be taking place from November 3rd to 9th. The festival will host exhibitions, slideshows, artist talks, workshops and other events, working primarily in public spaces in and around the old city of Patan. The event will be running in collaboration with the popular Jazzmandu Festival.

Photo Kathmandu is promoting a Special Print Sale to raise funds to contribute towards the rebuilding of heritage sites in Patan. All funds raised will go to Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust (KVPT). The Print Sale features photographs from two archives – Nepal Picture Library and the Peace Corps Nepal History Project. More info HERE.

Nepali photographers need the networks to be able to get their work out internationally – direct access to editors, curators, mentors, art directors and other professionals who can help them get their work out there. We are hoping this festival will be an opportunity to create these professional networks, and serve as a bridge between the local and the global to put Nepali photography on the world map” said organiser NayanTara Gurung Kakshapati, co-founder of photo.circle.

The submission date for the photography festival, unfortunately, has already passed.
