Nepali leg spinner, Sandeep Lamichhane has been listed in the ‘top XI’ list of the International Cricket Council. Lamichhane is included in 11 players to watch based on his performance in the ICC Under-19 World Cup held in Bangladesh recently.
Lamichhane took 14 wickets in six games played with an average of 17.07. He was the second highest wicket taker of the tournament. Sandeep alone claimed five wickets including a hat-trick against Ireland making him the first Nepali bowler and fifth in the world to make a hat-trick in U-19 world cup.
The list that ICC terms as ‘future star’ includes only two players from associate nations. They are Sandeep from Nepal and Rory Anders from Ireland. Likewise, the list includes four players from U-19 World Cup winner West Indies and one each from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and Bangladesh.
