The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve encompasses an impressive array of watershed, ponds, all trimmed by a long straight. Furthermore, translucent vegetation allows long-distance viewing which is perhaps the terrestrial equivalent of spotting tropical fish on a coral reef.
Extra incentive branches out to the neighboring Sapta Kosi River, where the endangered arna is wandering its last habitat. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is the area of coastal habitat and situated on the plain of the Sapta-Koshi River in the eastern corner of Nepal which is also a southern boundary of the country with India.
Speciality Of Koshi Tappu Reserve
It is one of the most excellent bird watching spots in Asia which is now listed by Ramsar. It’s typical tropical vegetation is the vast expanse of open water and got astounding wetland in it’s surrounding environment as well. In 1976 the reservation was gazetted to conserve habitat for Arna (Bubalus arnee), the last known population of Wild buffalo.
Nevertheless, with 176 sq. km. it is Nepal’s smallest wildlife reserve. The region is defined by the eastern and west embankments of the Sapta Koshi River and In 1987 Koshi Tappu was declared a Ramsar site, a globally significant wetland. Meanwhile, In 2004 the Nepalese government announced it as the buffer zone.

Best Environment For Wild life
There are three distinct seasons at the park. Summer (February through May) is extremely humid, with low rainfall. Temperatures in the shade can exceed 40 c. The monsoon starts at the end of May / early June and lasts until September, with strong daily rainfall.
The rainfall is greatest during July but is experienced throughout the season with high humidity and temperatures. Winter (October to January) has bright skies and a mild temperature.
Engendered And Rare Species Of Flora And Fauna
Bird watching inside the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve provides a thrilling chance to see some 400 species of birds as you stroll through the marshes, remote sandbanks and the mighty Koshi River islands as well as it has Khair-sissoo scrub forest and deciduous mixed riverine forest. The reserve has an important habitat for a variety of species. This is where the last surviving Wild buffalo population is found.
The estimated wild buffalo population is declining at about 159 individuals. The somewhat larger horns differentiate them from domestic buffalo. Around 20 other wildlife species such as Hog deer, Wild boar, Spotted wolf, Blue horse, and Rock Python are also included in the this reserve.
Variety of Wildlife Species In Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve
The Koshi Barrage is an incredibly important resting place for many migratory birds. The immigrant wildlife including 87 migratory species of winter and the trans-Himalayan. 80 species of fish live in the Koshi River as well.
There was also documentation of the vulnerable crocodile and Gangetic dolphin in the river. Many of the migratory birds can be seen on the Koshi Barrage and the river canal during the winter. Migration usually peaks at around mid-March.
